The Westside Orchestra

The Westside Orchestra is a community orchestra based at The Gap, located in the west of Brisbane. The orchestra comprises of approximately 20 enthusiastic players, ranging in age from 18 to 60. The orchestra rehearses once a week and performs both classical and contemporary pieces regularly throughout the year.

2009 is promising to be another exciting year for the group with several concerts planned throughout the year.

Latest News

December 2006: Several of our Westside Orchestra players will be performing with the Queensland Medical Orchestra, as they accompany James Morrison in this years 'Jim & Tonic' concert at City Hall.

November 2006: The Westside orchestra was recently invited to form the majority of the orchestra for the recent "Showstoppers" concert put on by the Ignations Musical Society. This show featured the Westside Orchestra and augmenting players onstage, accompanying some of Ignations finest singers in a series of famous Broadway and West End hits from iconic shows such as Phantom of the Opera, Evita and Les Miserables.

September 2006: The Westside Orchestra was proud to play at the wedding of one of our very own violinists, Belinda.

Westside is always looking for new players to join our vibrant group! It's the perfect place to pickup your instrument, whether it be after a long absence or to join an ensemble for the first time. So if at some point in your musical career you have reached an AMEB level 5 or equivalent, we'd love for you to join us for one of our rehearsals.
